    Dear Management Consulting Division Member:

The purpose of the Management Consulting Division is to advance knowledge and understanding of management consulting and to aid in the development of consultants from the perspectives of research, practice and teaching. The focus of the Division is on the discipline of consulting, as well as the consulting industry with an underlying goal of creating a bridge that integrates scholarship and practice. The Division very much encourages interdisciplinary and integrative approaches related to established and major practice areas of consulting. At the MC division, we strongly believe that in order to better help organizations, research and practice needs to be integrated.

Professional Development Workshops are encouraged, but not required, to tie in with the Annual Meeting theme. This year's theme, "Making Organizations Meaningful", gives us the opportunities to build insightful PDWs. The meaningfulness of an organization can refer to its purpose, values or worth. This goes beyond tangible success or profitability. Making organizations meaningful matters in a multitude of ways: at micro levels to engage employees in work to enhance human potential; at meso levels, to build and lead working teams achieving high performance based on a common goal to fulfill and great cohesion atmosphere; at macro levels, to develop organizational identity, culture, reputation, legitimacy and character.

Thus, you may consider PDW submissions that either address issues in the field of management consulting (consulting process, consulting outcomes, research in consulting industry, teaching management consulting...), or issues connected with the Annual Meeting theme on questions such as:

    ·         How could management consultants/researchers pay better attention to the meaningfulness of their clients' organizations, and/or help them to recover meaningfulness?

    ·         What are consulting approaches, methods, or tools through which organizations become intentionally more meaningful?

    ·         How to teach students to be internal and/or external consultants that help organizations becoming more meaningful?

    ·         How do researchers and/or scholar-practitioners construct meaning in their research, teaching, and consulting work? How do they communicate meaning?

Evaluation of the submitted PDW proposals will be made based on:

    ·         Bridging: Does this proposal explicitly link theory/practice and/or academics/consultants/practitioners?

    ·         Impact:  Will this PDW provide immediate usable advice, tools, and templates for our members? Is this PDW enhancing sharing actionable knowledge among participants?

    ·         Novelty: Does the proposal hold something new? Is there an innovative, provocative and/or interesting take-on the topic, method or format?

    ·         Quality:  Is this proposal designed around important topics and will the PDW be done in an excellent manner (format, interaction, expert presenters...)?

The MC Division is highly diverse and international, so we welcome and encourage innovative and integrative wide-reaching submissions for PDWs at the 2016 Annual Meeting (to be held in Anaheim, CA, USA). Submissions from established members of our division, as well as new members or professionals (academics, consultants, managers, students...) who are interested in the field of management consulting and research, and/or would like to explore new research issues, are welcomed.

    PDW Proposals must include:

    ·         Workshop title

    ·         Full description of the workshop and activities

    ·         Time requirements of the workshop

    ·         Submitter (contact person) and presenter(s) information, including name, affiliation, address, phone, and e-mail for each person.

    ·         Division or Interest Group sponsor solicited and why

    ·         Suggested Division or Interest Group co-sponsors (which are highly recommended given the limited time slots we have in the Academy's overall PDW program)

    ·         How you intend to create a productive audience interaction and participation.

Also please note that the "Rule of 3" applies to PDW submissions. Therefore no one can submit or be a part of more than 3 PDW submissions (this is in addition to the Rule of 3 for the main scholarly program).

The submission deadline is Tuesday, January 12th 2016, 5:00 PM ET (NY Time) (earlier submissions are strongly encouraged). If you have any question, or have an idea for a possible proposal that you would like to discuss, please contact me (amandine.savall@iseor.com) before submitting your proposal. Final PDW submissions must be made through the AOM submission system.
