We will have a keynote panel to discuss the recent movement of responsible research and its implication in China, followed by a joint reception of IACMR/MOR and Wuhan University.     Gerry George, Dean, SMU and Immediate Past Editor in Chief, AMJ Bill Glick, former Dean, Rice U. and Immediate Past Chair of AACSB Neng Liang, Professor of CEIBS, President of IACMR Anne Tsui, University of Notre Dame, former president of AoM and founding president of IACMR
     
    Panel Description:
    This panel will discuss two recent trends in academic community with a focus on their implications to China. The first is increased attention by key journals to openness and transparency of research procedure and importance of replication. The second is the need to produce useful knowledge for addressing current and future challenges in business and society.
     
    The panel members will discuss these recent developments and engage the audience in a debate on the responsible research ideal. Is it realistic? What can we do to help business schools in China (or elsewhere) to create a research ecosystem supporting the production of credible and useful knowledge?

    Biographies of Panel Members
    Gerry George is Dean and Lee Kong Chian Chair Professor of Innovation and Entrepreeurship at Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University. He also serves as International Dean of BML Munjay University India, and visiting professor at Imperial College London and Erasmus University. He is the immediate past Editor of the Academy of Management Journal.
     
    William (Bill) H. Glick, Ph.D., H. Joe Nelson III Professor of Management, served as dean of the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business from 2005 to 2016. He also served as the chair of the Department of Management at Arizona State University and a visiting professor at INSEAD and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.  He is the Immediate Past Chair of the board of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International<http://t.spl4cn.com/l2/6rCgdV3Rx0/5058/2330133347.html> (AACSB),
     
    Neng Liang is Professor of Management at CEIBS, China and President of IACMR. Before returning to China in 2002, he was a tenured professor at Loyola University of Maryland, USA.  He was a co-founder of the first International MBA Program at Peking University, served as the EMBA director and Associate Dean of Faculty at CEIBS, and worked closely with the business community in China.
     
    Anne S. Tsui is Distinguished Adjunct Professor at the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame. She is also Distinguished Visiting Professor at Fudan University and Peking University, China. She is past President of the Academy of Management, founding President of IACMR, past editor of AMJ, and founding editor in chief of Management and Organization Review.
     
    Event 2: IACMR/MOR & Wuhan University Joint Reception

    This year, IACMR, MOR and Wuhan University will host a joint reception at the Academy of Management Meeting, which will offer IACMR members an opportunity to learn about the association, the programs it offers, and Wuhan University, and to meet others who are also interested in management research in the cross cultural context-especially that of China. Delicious Chinese food and drinks will be provided.
